Surat Thani Railway Station is probably one of the busiest train stations in Thailand. Travellers wishing to visit Koh Tao, Koh Pha Ngan, and Koh Samui use Surat Thani as a gateway to these islands. Most tourists take the train from Hat Yai to Surat Thani, or the train from Bangkok to Surat Thani. This railway station is located in the Phunphin District of Surat Thani province.
You will see the waiting area upon entering the railway station. There are a few ATM machines available at the Surat Thani Railway Station, which is convenient for travellers who need Thai Baht to purchase their train tickets at the counter.
If you walk towards the train platform, there are more seats available for travellers waiting for their train. At the end of the platform, there is also a minimart selling snacks and drinks.
Prior to the train's arrival, there will be an announcement via the sound system. Passengers can get ready to board the train.
Next to Surat Thani Railway Station, there is a taxi service station for arriving passengers to go into Surat Thani Town. However, the taxi service may prove to be costly to travellers.
