GENERAL INFORMATION

Mukdahan is located at the river bank of Mekong River in Thailand Isan area, and has been a Historical gateway to Indochinese countries. The second Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge in Mukdahan is a gateway across the border to Savannakhet in Laos. Still popular with tourists, most foreign visitors are only passing through on a ‘visa run’ to Savannakhet in Laos. After crossing the border to Laos, they would usually continue the journey to Laos and Vietnam border to enter Vietnam via Lao Bao. The Local people of Mukdahan have had a long relationship with the people in Savannakhet province of neighboring Laos, with whom they share a 70 km long Mekong River border.

Nakhonchai Air deploy Gold Class bus while Thaisanuan Tour deploy VIP32 bus. These buses cost between 457 and 560 baht.

HOW TO GET MUKDAHAN BUS TERMINAL

Mukdahan Bus Terminal is located about 3 kilometer from the town center, which is only a 7 minute drive. Plenty of tuk tuks are available, or a yellow songthaew at the teminal for a 10-baht ride towards the river along Pitakpanomkhet Road. A few regular meter taxis are also available.
